Notes & opinionsNobody will work on your idea better than you
Nobody will work on your idea better than youI write these notes and own the ideas here. I also use AI to tighten wording and structure so they read more clearly for more people.
Nobody will work on your idea better than you. Not the building part. Plenty of people can build it, and many will build it better than you would. I mean the idea itself: what it's for, which features belong in it, where it goes next year. That part lives in your head, and it doesn't transfer with a spec.
I've watched founders hire a developer or an agency, write a long brief, and step back. It feels like delegation. What actually happens is the builder fills every gap in the brief with their own guess, and every guess is reasonable. A few months later the product works, and it's not quite the thing anyone wanted. Nobody did a bad job. The person holding the vision just wasn't in the room when the small calls got made.
So stay connected to it. Not by reviewing every line of code, but by being the one people ask when a feature could go two ways. Keep saying what the thing is and what it isn't. Hand off the work, keep the vision.
Staying connected doesn't mean you can't be wrong. Listen to the people building it, they see things you don't. Just make sure the final call on where the idea goes stays with the person who had it.
